There are many cupcake shops in San Francisco, but one cupcake shop near Union Square has 10, maybe 12 clear glass shelves attached to their windows and lining these shelves are cupcakes of every kind. There are probably 100 or more cupcakes in different sizes, varying colors of pastel or deep red velvet all topped with something whimsical like sparkles or tiny edible bubbles.
People walk by this store in droves, but it is always the women whose gait slows, whose heads tilt back to take it all in, to see that, yes, there are hundreds of tiny cakes, each decorated and topped and put on display. Almost none go inside.
