everything they say about the bagels is true...it's the water among other things..unlike some places out west that basically serve you a hamburger bun with a hole in the middle...

How much better are bagels in NYC? I basically can't even eat SF bagels at this point in my life. I had a Noah's bagel the other day for the first time since high school and I threw half of it out. So gross.

I had never had a bagel, it turns out, til I moved here. I don't know what kind of magic is in the water that makes them so fucking good, but those things are like little rounds of nirvana.

(PS, Nashville actually had a very good bagel place for years and years, called Nashville Bagel--it was a guy from New York who played violin that ran it. Was in the shopping center with Zola (?) and then moved to a stand alone building across the street from Houstons. He died maybe in the late 80s. He lived in our building, at the end of the hall from us. I don't think the bagel store is still there.)
